Missing out by 6 inches on getting t boned by a speeding hatchback that had gone through a red light. I was in a 2cv, hitting the accelerator hard down nipped me out of the way, honest.

Oh yeah the opening on the 2cv’s window is about 5 inches, I had to stick the top of my head out of that and continue driving for about 300 yards because it happened on a 2 lane overpass and there was nowhere to stop (the speed limit on that road was 70mph too, so extra terrifying)

Oh yeah I can tell you with confidence that this car was modified for this specific demo. The hinges really are held on like that but the wings are secured with 4 or 5 bolts each and the body doesn’t actually slot into the chassis like lego. I wouldn’t want to drive that car more than 20mph.

Yep, the question is, do you assemble the car properly, or do you save precious seconds gauging that it’s a 7 mile rally stage and realistically the wheels can probably survive that long on 2 lug nuts each.

I think they call that a wasted spark system. My Citroen 2cv does the same. In my car, it’s because it doesn’t have a distributor. It’s only a twin cylinder, so every time the ignition system (which sits on the end of the cam shaft) completes the circuit with the coil, the coil sends a spark down both leads and fires…
