100% the 190e 2.5-16 EVO ... is this even a question?
Have these ever not been cool? Just asking...
It was an inline 6 cyl turbo-diesel... I used to have the E28 BMW version, the 524td
Anyone else think the fuel fuller door is hideously placed on the body? I mean, it’s over a major body seam, and looks awful.
Wrong. There are both. Smaller nozzles for passenger cars, and wider nozzles for faster fill trucks and semi-trucks. It’s a real bitch to have a diesel car (my daily) and get off the freeway at a station only to discover they only have the wider nozzles that are not compatible with a car.
I am probably the ONLY person on the site that likes this but... I prefer cars with more disc wheels than the big open spaces showing off the brake mechanicals. All cars have brakes. Who cares?
And the Caddy version is supposed to look almost exactly like the ubiquitous 80's Mercedes alloy wheels (starting in 1984 on the 190e) 1986-1993 for all models
Include Wisconsin in this... sooooo much salt in the winter.
These are the moments when I am happy that my CAR (not SUV/crossover/whatever you call tall hatchbacks now) is an efficient diesel...
I get your beef on HUD, I generally turn them off in loaner cars from M-B for sure... most of the GLC and GLE that they use have them. Blah. I also find them mostly distracting, UNLESS using turn-by-turn navigation, in which it can be helpful.
It’s a bit too close to a new one price wise, and with 40K there is plenty of wear and tear to mechanical components that I’d pop for new over this one. However, if you can ONLY afford or be financed on used, this one would still be OK... the interior shows well, but I’d want the full service and oil-change…
Totally right!! My bad!
I 100% concur. I had a G500 from 2002, also fitted with the “latest and greatest” from the merger, including all of the soon to be rusty sheet-metals, faulty computers, electric gremlins, and especially the cheap-ass interior plastics that flaked and peeled away like disposable Tupperware... good riddance. LOVED the…
I’d rather have the 4-door 325i, thanks.
Serious want. Bring on the plaid! The end.
I am absolutely drooling over the Blue/Red combo. Wow.
REALLY enjoyed this read. These deep dive articles are so great, keep them coming.
What I liked was the BMW colors. Not the colors specifically, but that they seem to be NON metallic. I am a fan of that for sure.
I’ll guess it tops $75K. Just a guess. I still love these. The shape is gorgeous. Yes it sucks that it’s an automatic, but it really won’t affect the value to a collector, IMHO. Let’s just hope this goes to a collector who will drive it (sparingly), and preserve it. There are so few unmolested ones around that…
