Another lesson: Sometimes, you have to do things you loathe to get to do things that really matter. Murrow hated doing the “Person to Person” celebrity interviews, like this one with Liberace (watch Murrow’s face at the beginning)

Rich guy getting rich off slavery thinks getting rich off slavery’s cool?
He’s a mega-badass — this article doesn’t even touch on his live remotes from atop London rooftops as the Germans were bombing during the Blitz — and his name on an award is a pretty cool thing to have, independent of the merits of the award itself. So, yeah.
“and remember that we are not descended from fearful men”
Watching the clip with Kanye I found myself wondering, “Do I... do I love Kanye? I think maybe I love him.”
The responses here make me angry. Does this woman get no blame for what she did? Are we really banking everything on a mental illness and perhaps.. just selfishness?
I like how African leaders often accuse calls for LGBT tolerance as “Western influence” interfering in African affairs, while simultaneously believing homosexuality a sin because of their deeply held Catholic values.
Not true, within the EU free travel is allowed within without a visa. Diverting from the Netherlands to Germany or Belgium (as would be the case with larger aircraft) is a non-issue. As for passengers from outside the EU, most times arrangements will and can be made by the local border authority for a temporary visa…
Europe has TONS of other airports in close proximity to each other. Rotterdam, Brussels, etc? Maybe they were all bad at the time or they had already burned through their fuel circling and waiting.
Before an airliner takes off, it files a flight plan that includes a diversion airport. The aircraft must have enough fuel to shoot an approach at its destination airport, divert to its diversion airport, and still have fuel for another 30+ minutes. The captain already had a planned diversion airport that was capable…
I think we have the same mother. My mother is morally opposed to instruction manuals, and her idea of trying a new recipes is exactly as you describe, she hears someone talk about “chicken tikka masala” and that it involves tomatoes and chicken, and the next night for dinner is a pile of chicken in tomato sauce with…
If they can go to the Netherlands, they can go to pretty much anywhere in western Europe, certainly Belgium, France or Germany.
A more skilled pilot would have exercised his better judgment and diverted to an airport that was not experiencing such extreme conditions.
I don’t understand why you’d even take that risk. Don’t tell me, “They can do it. They have to be there.” Nope. You can wait it out. All anomalous weather eventually passes.
I would just like to say that I lost more than 50 lbs in 4 months—without ever counting a single calorie!—just by having severe gastrointestinal problems combined with depression so overwhelming I couldn’t make myself eat even when my system could handle it.
To be fair, does sound like the 500 calories wouldn’t, you know, necessarily stay in your stomach long enough to do owt to your waistline.
I absolutely would not marry someone deep in debt. I’m managing my mom’s finances now, and it makes me feel like a parent. I would not want to feel that way about my spouse.
Or you could just be with them and not get married (my personal plan).
Wow. Lack of financial skills would have been way more of a dealbreaker for me than the debt itself. You are a more giving person than I.
When I was younger and had nothing myself, it would’ve been fine.
