Visitor from Jalopnik here... Project CARS is a great racing simulator, but if you want something with which to actually learn something you can translate to real life, I highly recommend you try out this little simulator called Live For Speed. It doesn’t have the same fancy graphics, car noises and track selection as

And it’s not even that outlandish a concept. Some people in Hawaii really do drive around roofless and with their surfboards strapped to the roof!

Where that bolt went after you dropped it in the engine bay.

From what I know I think GoPros are disallowed on paper, but in reality they usually close one eye about it

Now playing

I totally agree about the intimidation being worse than the reality. As long as you drive at a sensible pace and with your eyes open, there really is nothing to be afraid of. Granted, having lots of virtual ‘Ring time on Forza, driving a small 120bhp hatchback and going on a weekday right when the touristenfahrten

I hope this one made it out unscathed...

I’ve driven one of these (and its CLA sibling); can’t say I like it much. The power, exhaust parp and grip are fun when you’re driving fast but in normal driving the ride is too hard, visibility too poor and DCT absolutely maddening when parking or in traffic. Though I do really like the suede-covered steering

You have a 96? Ermahgerd you’re my hero!

Aaaaaand the video’s gone

I was once asked to be photographer for a convoy drive, using a little Suzuki as a camera car. Did the entire 45min drive with both side doors and the tailgate open, at speeds up to 70km/h while I leaned out for the photos.

Very cool indeed, especially since it was a night shot. What car were you hanging out of and how fast were you going?

What rally was this? I need to know more! Did departments from other countries compete too?

“You’re a doctor, deal with it.” - my favourite line from the whole film!

Meanwhile in actual school (university), girls really seem to be impressed by older cars. The number of “oh wow”s that I’ve gotten when I gave lifts to my classmates...

This, for the cunning ways used to fulfill its sole purpose: Be the winningest long-distance rally car ever. And what’s not to like about basically a real-life Dick Dastardly?

Can’t say I’m a fan of these. Tyre profile’s too low and the slim spokes just don’t make them look substantial enough. Might I ask why you chose to swap in the R34 wheels?

Why's the Catera have so many issues? I've never heard the Opel/Vauxhall Omega giving so many problems

Crazy story indeed, but at least it had a happy ending!

Ah, so you went for the Transporter look eh?

My family had one of those! 2001, 4dr, 1.6L 5-speed. I learnt to drive in that thing but only got to play around with it for half a year after getting my licence before the car had to be scrapped. Only 125,000km on the clock, no mechanical issues whatsoever. I cried as we left the dealer...
