I grew up in rural upstate NY. Same story.

On another thread I saw someone who must live close to me threaten to go over the nearby border to the adjoining state which has a much lower property tax. It’s a constant refrain but only a few of the ranters ever do it, because our testing & college success rates are both significantly higher and our town roads are

But while we’re at it, my $994 banana-only diet...

Thanks for your views and speaking up. I see a generation gap in the gay community I see through my work where the younger isn’t aware of what their forefathers/mothers went through to get us to today’s times.

I used to go to a chiropractor who, while I doubt the science behind it, did make my back feel better at a cheap rate. Then I heard he was also moving into essential oils because of their hidden benefits and never went back. There’s a level of stupidity even my self-interest won’t tolerate.

I’m 100% with you on this. Even starting out stereotypically rural poor, the white part has helped me. We have a very segregated town where certain Elderly Relatives legit think all the black people choose to live in the run down rentals (and pitch a fit if anyone darker than copy paper tries to move closer to them)

I work (not today, so it’s internet playtime) for a local government where we have high local taxes. 80% of the budget is mandated by law or contracts. I’m not sure what else is left to cut.

I’m related to some of those rich people. Trying to summarize or explain them gives me a rage vein in my forehead that makes my coworkers worry about me.

Cowherd spent a lot of time on how the Steelers can’t win because they have a black coach. Or that’s what he meant, anyway.

Bills fans: “Hold my flaming table.”

Completely agree. I’m a casual fan who could really get into a Sunday of flipping channels. It’s only one more game, but I feel that it changes up the dynamic of the league.

They are a team that’s either going to ride two players to the final or flame out and miss the Wild Card.

I feel bad for Savage, which is a foreign sentiment for me, because the guy doesn’t seem to have something—skill, game awareness, speed, whatever—that he needs to be a starting QB and he seems to know it. He’s an emergency backup at best right now, who should be handing off ten times and maybe one play action to try

I didn’t even know about the PSU connection and thought it was a stupid hire to put Schiano Man in charge of student athletes given his noted inability to be human.

What is “why I lasted such a short time in college sports?”

Totally agree.

Highlight was seeing suspended Altidore watching from a luxury box.

That’s how it is in my big white family...I have 31 first cousins, ages 65 to 21, and half our town is somehow related to my dad, so “cousin” is a generic term for any relative of about the same age.

I’m a white houseplant to white inlaws and I’m most certainly judging.

I look forward to the rest of this series.
