Knowing nothing about how Twitter works, my guess is that the harassers are abusing some kind of report function. Seen it in other places, mostly games.

I won’t name him, but one of the people leading the harassment campaign was banned a few years ago from Magic the Gathering after, among other things, targeting a prominent cosplayer and causing her to leave the community (she has since returned, to much rejoicing).

Yep. And the one player they consistently interacted with (Nairo) is one of the alleged. They’re never dipping their toe in this shithole again.

Somehow they thought Nintendo’s support was possible even before now, despite how toxic the community already was.

Furthermore, imagine if the guy announcing every other championship or iconic moment also got outed as a rapist.

Also the “why won’t Nintendo support us” crowd finally has the loudest and clearest answer imaginable.

Shit’s awful, and made worse by the fact that most of the fans of these creators are also minors. A lot of them don’t apparently understand why an adult shouldn’t have a relationship with a minor because they’ve... never been an adult. Has led to a lot of vile shit on Twitter and Reddit. Just to put this in perspective for folks who haven’t been covering this: imagine if just before going into the NBA playoffs we learned that 4 out of 5 starters on every single team entering the playoffs had abused minors, as well as 100% of the coaching staff.
