I’m kind of surprised by how you’re seeing this as a cost-of-entry measure, and not a steady erosion of consumer rights issue, which is what most people are losing their minds over.

Microsoft’s Console Division: We initially announced the XBox One as a physical-media-free console, and consumers rightly told us to turn that idea sideways—stick it somewhere anatomically unlikely and almost certainly medically inadvisable—and twist.

I find it pretty funny that years later, they are basically releasing what that initial reveal of the Xbox one was in the first place (that all digital, always online what that everyone hated and they reversed).

You can throw a 2080Ti at a high-end game and still not get 100% consistent 4k/60FPS.  The stripped-down tech that goes into a game console isn’t going to match that kind of flex--especially not on larger displays like 60"+ TVs.
