Ugh this job sucks. I upgraded to urethane bushings once and having to get the rubber out while keeping the metal shell intact to reuse with the urethane was a miserable job I would not wish on my worst enemy.

I know a lot of people that do this, but in my experience you have to be driving a lot of miles and your second car has to be a beater to have it make sense.  At least here in Michigan, I have to pay a minimum of $600/year to insure a car with liability, closer to $1000 for full coverage.  And that is with a clean

Yea, I struggle with this.  Comes in with a tick, has “metal shavings” in the pan, but an oil change resolved it?  Not buying it.  Most cars I have had that develop a tick do so when the oil gets a bit lower (cough, NA Miata, cough) but the oil change resolves it.

I mean, its some metal shavings. He didn’t do an engine teardown, find the root cause, and decide to button it back up and trade it in knowing its a time bomb.  It will probably run fine for a while, but nobody really knows.

I don’t disagree with this point at all. Unfortunately, I think politicians are afraid to place things into law that could affect them.  If you are a senator and you one day aspire to the presidency, you do not want your entire background check becoming public.

Unassisted brakes utilize a smaller piston in the master cylinder and generally have a more effective pedal arm ratio to make up for the lack of power boost.

Electronic Brake Boost (EBB) uses a high pressure accumulator, pedal simlulator, and pressure sensors in concert to translate pedal effort into brake pressure at the wheels. As the driver applies force to the pedal, the system detects the amount of force and uses the charged accumulator apply brake pressure to the

I don’t know.  Jackson is pretty much run by the Michigan Militia.  Washtenaw, some of Wayne, and Oakland seem to be where the sensible people are.  Macomb is a bit conservative for my tastes.

SE Michigan has its share of red.  I think the entirety of Macomb county is a Trump supporter.

Seriously agree. Somehow I can manage to keep wiper blades on my car long enough to turn in my lease, so I rarely buy new blades.

I used to do this, as that is what my dad taught me was “the proper way”.  But it seems the beam style has become more prevalent and I can’t tell you the last time I have seen just refills out at the parts store, although I have not looked that hard.

I think surveys like this are bullshit for this reason. If the analysis is going to be binary, then make it a binary survey. Its like the last company I worked for that rated everyone a “5" on the 9-boxer, and maybe a couple people got “4" if they really sucked, and a couple people got an“8", but nobody could get the

Well first, I never said that he was being a dick, but that in my own life I have realized being a dick does not always pay off in the long run.

I am not saying I am not immune to being a dick, but I have realized watching other people throw a fit about not getting what they want the second they demand it how childish it is, and how there are a lot bigger issues to worry about.

Oh, so I can go buy a truck tomorrow to tow my trailers and haul my stuff.

We have an Edge ST now and are upgrading to the Explorer ST next time. Should be here by Thanksgiving

My dad’s neighbor had a lightning strike that managed to hit his driveway and took out both of his cars. Neither was totaled, but I think the dealer had one for about 6 months and the other for about 2 trying to get them right.

Get the hell out of here with your logic and facts!

I actually think Raph is right here.  BMW has not abandoned their quest to build the ultimate driving machine.  However, the whole industry has shifted, and they have followed the trend.  They are still sportier than their competition, they still handle better and have nicer materials and finishes.  Just because they

Jason, active safety is big business, and now what constitutes as a differentiator for many customers, so I understand the need to advertise the advantages of the system. However, I think the more responsible way to do it would be to frame it in a different context.
