In standard usage, “toyed with” implies contemplation without action. Clearly not the case here. “Toyed over” is non-standard.
Both examples you’ve given use the phrase “toying with”, rather than “toying over”.
Dude, don’t be a douche. He/she has a legitimate question being your journalistically unorthodox use of the phrase.
Prince Philip served in the Royal Navy during World War Two, which is probably where his attachment for the military shade of green comes from.
Yes, I know that meaning, thanks - I thought you might have meant modifying the vehicle, and wanted to check as it didn’t make sense in the context to me. ‘Toying over’ I would not use - ‘toying with’, I would. If it does seem okay to you, great.
I think it’s usually ‘toying with’ or ‘toiling over’ which is probably why he wasn’t sure about the use.
I lived in VT for about ten years and was never considered in-state. Anyone short of sixth generation is considered a flatlander outside of Burlington.
A lot of them have just never been anywhere this dry. You can have a lot of wilderness experience but unless it was in a literal desert you’ve got a lot to learn.
I grew up in Vermont and I don’t think most people are understanding what Class 4 Roads actually are.
yeah, theyre upset that ford is basically turning their road network in to a playground.... keep in mind, the roads arent maintained by tax dollars, but the dollars of the residents themselves. so it’s a considerable extra burden on the folks living there.
Imagine if Dodge came to town and held a weekend-long “Cars and Coffee Burnout Weekend” event on public roads
they’re likely maintained our of their own pockets instead of tax dollars. people who live out in the boonies know they’re going to have to maintain their own road, (call in a neighbor with their grader, and a dump truck load of gravel...) its one thing for some lone truck to come thru every once in a while, but when…
“purposefully UNMAINTAINED”
A couple trucks rarely going down the roads isn’t a big deal.
Ford is hosting Bronco Off-Rodeos around the country for new Bronco owners, which this was supposed to be. They are locations where new Bronco owners can go, stay, and be taught how to off-road....
Correct, these specific roads were not made for regular use.
i think the idea is that right now the roads are only traversed by people who live there... light traffic means little to no damage to the road (which isnt maintained by tax dollars) if the bronco rodeo thing comes thru it means that theres going to be a whole lot more traffic coming thru doing a whole lot more damage…
This is trying to be clever but really ignores the reality of what a bunch of ppl can do to roads when they go all over the place where they shouldnt. Which they do/will.
The roads they’re talking about absolutely were not made for motor vehicles.
