I’m not going to argue that really old cars are great for everyone, but as someone who is mechanically competent my 50 year old car isn’t the worst to own. I’d rather own it at the end of its lifecycle than a computerized car at the end of its lifecycle because the systems are so much less complex and interconnected.

I’m sure. Reliability works on a bell curve right? It’s gotta be getting more reliable by now.

Haha, I just want someone to film the same shot again with a better camera now.

Haha, I can relate. I can identify any automotive fluid on asphalt by sight, smell, or finger feel alone at this point. Same goes for cars running too rich, too lean, burning oil, burning coolant, running on fresh or stale gasoline, etc.

A friend of mine has a less than 10 year old Mini. My 50 year old econo car with more miles is a more reliable car, and that’s really saying something.

I agree with this so much. If you just fix everything on a car as it breaks, it never becomes a beater. Also as long as a person isn’t a completely inept moron, they should feel more comfortable doing simple work like replacing a door handle that brakes. I do about 95% of the maintenance on my Falcon myself unless it

This guy’s steam videos are the best. The amount of detail is great, and they’re shot so nicely.

My Falcon is my daily driver, and I can only barely tell a difference in driving comfort between a car from the 90s and a new car because they’re so different from what I’m used to in a 1960s economy car. The fact that a 2009 Civic felt unbearably unrefined to you is difficult for me to comprehend. From my perspective

Either you’re stupid or you’re really good at playing it. If you don’t know what the hell a valve cover looks like don’t click the article on a car website about a valve cover that looks weird. You’re probably already off to go bitch on a BonAppetit article because they didn’t explain to you what a flour sifter looks

Nope, the 8th is the 21 window. The 7th drawing is identical to the 3rd.

This is one of the few situations in which I can laugh at the people with new cars.

You feel like a dick driving through a dark campground with your headlights on, that’s one time to turn them off.

Again, I don’t doubt that there are brighter headlights. And I don’t doubt that if you’re the only one with them its great. But when every other car has them, and every other light is brighter to compensate, the end result is people feeling constantly blinded while driving at night. And right now people feel

They’re a way to measure oil flow, the hooks are actually tubes that oil drips or pours out of, and you know there’s oil as long as its dripping. The glass domes are just to keep it from splashing. On old steam equipment there are devices based on the same idea, but used to control oil flow to components. On those you

It does fuel the misnomer that AWD somehow makes up for bad tires.

I don’t know man, I’m sorry you can’t appreciate why it’s beautiful.

I just feel differently about that. The truth is that on a full moonlit night you can see clearly if your eyes are adjusted, most people don’t even realize that though because we’re so surrounded by bright lights. Brighter lights just make everything else look darker. The solution for seeing at night isn’t just to

Thank you for noticing your headlight glare, you’re the hero this world needs.

My windshield is very clean, 50 years of rock chips and all.
