Man, DC-3s are worthy of admiration. After it first flew in 1935 it became the first really popular airliner, the military variant was used to drop paratroopers on D-day, and they’re so bomb proof that there are still several hundred flying today in roles similar to the one LandCruisers play in the Australian Outback.

This is something I wish more people would internalize. Newer does not necessarily equal better. The changes made to airplanes in the last 30 years have been mostly to automation, not safety.

Here in CO there’s a “mile marker 420" sign that has been stolen so many times they replaced it with a “mile marker 419.99” sign.

That may be the starter button...

I’ve done many long road trips in my Falcon, one over a thousand miles. Doing it in an old car with a top speed of 70 and no A/C really does just make it a different experience. I don’t know if it registers as less comfortable to me, because the difference between taking an old car and a new car that distance is so

I’m not disagreeing that this is hoarding.

I just did the same. Why the hell do all of the GMG sites randomly point you to 8 year old articles with no warning that you’re entering a time machine?

I went to a college in California with a large number of ultra-wealthy Chinese students. Once while I was in class someone found a 1-2 year old MacBook Air in the trash can in the corner of the room, and when they opened it the language was set to Chinese. Naturally the battery was charged and there was seemingly

This brings up my current hatred for the blue LEDs cities are replacing their streetlights with. They’re bad for light pollution, our circadian rhythms, and are just ugly.

Don’t you dare tarnish a car like this with zip ties. Just buy the original style plastic clips that have probably popped out and are probably the reason the air dam is sagging. Also find a spray paint that matches the color of the wheels and repaint the center caps. Or just buy replacement ones.

I agree. A very reliable very luxurious car is begging for really epic roadtrips.

I mean, there is such a thing as a responsible gun owner, they just aren’t the ones screaming about libtards coming to steal their guns. And there are places where guns are necessary, my girlfriend’s parents live in a small town (population of roughly 500) in Montana where many people do hunt for their own food (which

I don’t think 60s Mustangs are as expensive as you think, you can find presentable daily driver ones for $6000 pretty easily. Not as cheap as a Falcon, but way cheaper than something like a Camaro.

No, my car is the last thing you’d put your child in. Wait, actually a Model T is the last thing you’d put your child in. It turns out most cars ever made are the last thing you’d put your child in. Poor child, can’t drive so many cars.

I think Pinecone Plaintiff is reacting a bit to the same things I do. It sucks that wealthy people in coastal cities have blown up the values of a lot of old trucks, Defenders, Land Cruisers, Broncos, etc. to use them for purposes that they objectively suck at, driving around in cities. 10-15 years ago a lot of those

“Body and exterior” includes more than just sheet metal though. What about door cards? Or little plastic trim clips? Rubber seals for the vent windows? The rubber strip on the bumpers of CarsofFortLangley’s truck? Its those odds and ends that go out of production and that wear out on every junkyard example of the same

Unfortunately, if you truck is anything like my car, engine and drivetrain parts will be the only parts you can find in 20 years. It’s body and trim components that completely disappear. So if you electrified it you’d just be getting rid of the only easily sourced parts.

The political episodes of Parks and Rec have gotten harder and harder to watch over time as they become less and less far from reality.

Why the fuck would someone bother lying about the wording of a headline on the CNN homepage? Here’s your screenshot, now stop being a dick and crying about “evidence” when you can just type “cnn.com” with your own god damn fingers.

I’m curious why they cost $500. Isn’t the wheel size on that a really standard small size? I know that name brand tires for my Falcon are like $45 per wheel.
