I would say that pretty much any 50 year old car looks special at this point in pretty much any condition, not just restored. People compliment my Falcon all the time, and I point out that when new it was in a fight with the Plymouth Valiant to be the most boring car one could possibly buy in 1968, and it is in

When I was young I loved Mustangs, then as I got older I felt like they were over rated. Now I’m circling back around again and realizing that they are pretty good looking cars.

If I name a thing “girlfriend” but say it’s pronounced “jirlfriend” that doesn’t mean I’m right. Either it’s spelled wrong or pronounced wrong.

Yeah this is easily the best option suggested. Some of the other cars people have suggested are overpowered for her needs and look pretty bland comparatively, this would definitely have the “old lady in a sports car” look that she’s aiming for.

I feel like I never hear about this aspect of driving manuals. I would feel much more helpless in winter not being able to rock my car out of holes by myself through careful use of the clutch. An automatic won’t let you roll backwards without changing gears, so you can’t pick up momentum going up each side of the

The benefits of driving a manual in bad weather or snow is only partly being able to shift gears, which you can do with an automatic that allows you to change gears. It’s also largely the benefit of being able to exactly control how much power is going to the rear wheels using the clutch, in a way that is much more

You are really confused about why people like to drive manual transmissions. Track times have absolutely nothing to do with why I like driving a manual. I don’t think I’m faster than an automatic. I like being in control of my car, I like being able to use the clutch to feather power really accurately in the snow, I

I tried to type “hood springs” but Kinja makes my autocorrect stupid. What gas strut lasts anywhere close to 50 or 60 years though? My experience is that hood springs are a cheap part on my car that hasn’t worn out yet after 50 years. So it is possible to make hood springs that work. It seems like gas struts are

Or a car hitting a bump, or a truck with something heavy in the back. Driving over the lump in the middle of an intersection is enough to make a car’s lights point at your face briefly, and with how bright they are these days that’s an eye searing experience.

Wait, they don’t even have a spare tire? A full size spare is a spare tire that is exactly the same as the wheels you drive on. My Falcon’s spare even has a hubcap. One a few inches smaller is a donut, and the Focus RS doesn’t have one at all? Eck, I honestly wouldn’t feel comfortable going on road trips.

Hahaha

Dude, I use paper maps for almost all of my exploring and road tripping in Colorado. But good luck driving across the SF Bay Area in under 6 hours if you’re trying to memorize the entire drive and/or find a place to pull off the highway every single time you need a direction.

I’ve honestly one seen two other 3rd generation Falcons on the road in the 9 years I’ve had mine, the later ones are really rare. I see probably a few dozen older Falcons on the road each year though.

I honestly disagree with you. Driving at night now feels like a waiting game for when an oncoming car with insanely bright headlights is going to blow my eyeballs out. Humans have some amount of night vision, but the brighter the light you’re looking at the less of it you have. So having crazy bright headlights in

Have you actually never driven in a city you’re unfamilar with before? If you’re not using a map when in an unfamiliar place you’re a moron. Most maps now are just Google Maps on a phone, and thus it is very convenient to have a place where the phone can sit so you can see the map.

You know some people who say they like manuals actually buy new cars with manual transmissions right? I’m not looking for an extra vehicle right now, but having a manual transmission is a major factor in my car purchases. I have no idea why you feel the need to be snarky about this, what are you proving?

I worked at the Grand Canyon, where you could barely throw a rock without hitting a Japanese tourist. Trust me, they have their problems. Less loud and boisterous problems, more arrogant, showing up in crowds of 75, mad at you for not being able to speak Japanese type problems.

Does a Focus RS really have a full size spare?

So I’m not the only person who sees this.

I had no idea you could buy a vehicle that recently without intermittent wipers.
