Yeah, I was just saying this the other day, they can’t make a base model because it isn't going to be cheaper to produce, they might save $1000-3000 in components, but it essentially cost the same to produce as the truck they are selling for $100k right now. The truck is probably barely profitable at $80k.

If wank panzers are more expensive now does this mean fewer on the road? Yes, this would be a positive development.

Are you referring to Chesterfield Mall? If so, howdy neighbor. How fitting that unloved and unwanted Teslas are sitting in a defunct mall’s parking lot shortly before it gets plowed under for new development

My mom was OBSESSED with the design of the PT Cruiser when it came out. I remember those first few months they were basically unobtainable and if you could, you were paying thousands in markups. It worked out great for me though, because I was 15 at the time and about to need a car.

Meh.

Next headline - Cybertruck sales drop, price is reduced to drum up interest.

If they gave me a Cybertruck it would be on a used car lot tomorrow.

I would hope I would have passed out from fear before it entered the spin. That honestly my hope for any traumatic death -- I hope I pass out from fear before I feel anything.

It’s called a flat spin. If you’ve seen Top Gun, this is what happened to Maverick & Goose F-14

Dying in a plane crash is a terrible way to die no matter what, but how this one went down spinning, boy that’s salt in the wounds as someone who’s terrible with motion sickness.

So, the ~$39k increase in price to get the least expensive version happens to be the same amount of money as what Tesla originally promised the least expensive versions would cost...

Are people really going to pay that much for a truck that doesn’t do truck stuff all that well.

My guess would be that they have realized that the only people biting on the CT are the die-hard Tesla stans who will pay anything for one, and the average buyer more interested in a base model don’t want anything to dow with the CT, so might as well chop the base model and fleece the stans.

Nobody’s buying these things other than rich idiots with low self esteem so why not?

Prospective buyers eyeing a base-model Cybertruck will now have to shell out an additional $39,000 just to get their foot in the door."

Thankfully for Tesla, there are plenty of dumb asses to fall for this.

The local Tesla dealer has used the back parking lot of a mall for excess inventory. For at least the last 2-3 years there was never more than a dozen or so cars parked there. In the last 9-10 months there has to be, at the very least, 500+ cars and it seems to get larger every week.

Your information is outdated. EV fires can be easily put out with a disposable fire-suppression blanket that many emergency services are now stocking.

Difficult to obtain any significant amount of water if you’re not at a lake or river, so putting out an ICE fire could also be challenging. And since ICE fires are more frequent than EV fires, I don’t know that risk mitigation would call for banning EVs.

If an electric vehicle has a problem it averages 25,000 gallons of water to extinguish a fire. Large capacity battery vehicles likely require much more. Difficult to obtain that much water on an Offroad trail.
