My friend this game was released in 2001. The same year as the likes of Grand Theft Auto III, Max Payne, Halo CE, FF X and countless others, many of which fit the bill you described pretty well.

In my experience Ubi games have never worked well with SLI. Tried seeing what kind of performance you get with a slightly lower res and the SLI profile turned off?
