One of the simplest ways is just to open a Vanguard IRA and invest it in an Index SP500 plan. You should probably research more, but an index fund is basically just buying a little stock in every top 500 company (I think! Not a professional! Not at all!) so you earn at the same rate as the stock market.

This is life. If I’m ever vaguely in the area I’m going, it’d be perfect

I impulsed rescued a dog from a bad situation. I was so worried about it all, intro to new dogs, having a small dog (chi mix), vet bills. But! Surprise! Dog is an absolute angel. I “gave” her to my 8 yr old who has a lot of psychiatric issues. They adore each other. And DD’s behavior is about 50% improved.

I’d like to go to one. But a bad one. I’d find it hilarious. But I’m very easily entertain so -_-

Hello! Yes. I’ve been doing it for several years, while at the same time trying to lower my life style expectations (happily!) I’m proudly at 25% investing, and have two paid off rental houses. (Is this bragging? I don’t know, yes. Yes it is.)

I second The Wave, I went into it expecting a cheesy disaster and ended up emotionally compromised. Perhaps it’s the difference between an american disaster movie and a Norwegian one.

This doesn’t qualify because it didn’t happen to me, but I heard it from the baby. Now a grownup. It would have happened pre-cellphones.

I have a ghost cat, my best cat ever who disappeared to no good end. I can feel him jump on the bed and curl up next to me, sometimes when he does the other cat (alive!) starts to purr.

Okay, my Blue Crush was about three best friends who lived together and raised a kid. It also had Michelle Rodriguez in it. Without her it won’t count.

My library has novelty cake pans and decorating gear!

this needs to be a recurring post. a counterpoint to barf bag.

There are rescues, and then there are kill shelters. Try to find one of the kill shelters, I got my good doggo there, $35. I kept getting turned down by rescues because I lack a fence. I live on 80 acres backed up to national forest, so no, it’s not fenced.

I’m of the Very Firm opinion that things you like are NEVER dated. Just pick what you like without regard to fads, and you’ll probably be good for years.

Eh, I always tend to pay with a card and tip in cash.

while it may not be frugal (it might be!) there are businesses in the U.S. that give you a U.S. address, then resend the stuff you order internationally

could be, but i just have experience with shelter animals

Two of the shelter dogs I have are great, but one... She never recovered, and just got progressively worse. She was very unpredictable with children, adults other than me, and other dogs. I took her to a trainer and was told to put her down. I didn’t! But until her last day she was unstable, and I lived in fear of her

I’m a landlord and I hate it. Get with a rental company and take percentage hit to have them manage it for you. Then rent a cute little house and get a kitten!

Thanks for this comment, by the end of the article I’d decided to use my tornado cellar (underground, cement) but the ventilation isn’t filtered at all. Back to new ideas.
