I took a couple F-117's up to Abbotsford Canada for the yearly airshow back in 06. While there my jet was part of the static display at the end of the line. Every plane after us was a performer and there was a Bone there. One of the days I was sitting in the back of the jet answering questions about the boom pod and…
Tyler I have the full 40 min video of this. If you would like it I can email it to you. Got it direct from the Maces
A centerline gun pod. You would think the Navy would have learned from their F-4 fiasco...
Of all our NATO allies the UK is really the only one that is best equipped to defend itself. And plus Ramstein AB is more centrally located in Europe for the mission of the -135 than Mildenhall was. If I was in the 100th ARW I'd be excited. Germany was a favorite TDY place of mine.
The KC-135's in the background are what make this photo awesome! Without them the Black goes nowhere!
Those P-3s used to be Aero Union planes. Was that from the fire in Burney?
Yes it was. My dad is a former Naval Aviator and is friends with the pilot/A&P that was doing the swap. So he invited us up to help turn wrenches. Glad I went because that is an opportunity I will probably new get again!
Got an opportunity to help with an engine swap on that plane back in Nov at Reno Stead. The amount of engineering that plane took to build is mind boggling.
The Bone and A-10 are the hardest to refuel. Those dang pilots think they can just fly onto the boom and everything will be okay. Id rather have a C-17 or C-5 on the boom than a Bone
