The youngest person to win an Academy Award for Best Actor was Adrien Brody, who was 29 years and 343 days old when he accepted the award for "The Pianist" in 2003. He is the only twenty-something actor ever to win.

Well that's not fair though because the male actor gets to just do the movie and go home. The actress has to do all this extra crap to make the same amount.

I'm a straight guy so I'll try to explain this one. Straight guys relate to one another through aggression and violence, so even though sports like football or wrestling involve rolling around with sweaty guys, they are seen as straight and not as gay because the goal is to physically impose your will on your opponent.

I NEVER NOTICED BEFORE FIGURE SKATING BOOTS WERE GENDERED BY COLOR BUT YOU'RE RIGHT

Huh. That's messed up and hopefully will get overturned on appeal. But it's also Kansas, which isn't the most progressive state either.
For what it's worth, this isn't a sperm donor who went through a commercial sperm bank, but a guy who made a private arrangement with the sperm recipients. I'm pretty sure most sperm

What? What state requires sperm donors to pay child support? That sounds made up.

I agree with just about everything in this post, but I believe there is a more charitable interpretation for what the following sentence is saying:

My own personal preference (if it were about me, which I recognize it's not) would be to use the pronoun for how the person presented at the time. Because to say that a trans person was *always* the gender they believe themselves to be seems like a form of gender essentialism that I don't necessarily agree with. I

I just remembered I was also going to list "Can't Hold Us" as an example of another one of Macklemore's good songs. But this is another one where you could legitimately argue the guest vocalist is the best part of the song.

OK, I just listened to this Le1f song. Two thoughts: (1) amazing song, thanks for sharing. Will have to look for more music from him. (2) It doesn't really sound anything like "Thrift Shop." Even *if* Macklemore heard this and was somehow inspired by it (which hasn't been proven), he certainly didn't "rip off" Le1f.

Now every time I see a really sexy pair of eyebrows I'm going to wonder, "Are those real?"

We read the explanations, and we thought they were stupid and posting the unretouched photos was pointless and mean.

He's not a shit rapper though. I haven't heard his entire album, but "Same Love," "Thrift Shop," "White Walls," "Wings," and "Irish Celebration" are all good songs. Yes, he benefits a lot from great production and great hooks. Macklemore chooses his colllaborators well.

He doesn't say that in the first verse. Looks like you're talking about the second verse, where he says this: "A culture founded from oppression / Yet we don't have acceptance for 'em"

Thanks for the link on Savage. He's said some questionable things about transgender and bi people before, and I saw him interviewed in

When did Macklemore ever say POC people should know better because of their history? Yeah, he compares it to the civil rights movement. Is that what you mean? Well, there are memes going around on the Internet juxtaposing pictures from anti-civil rights demonstrators in the 1950s and anti-gay marriage demonstrators in

New Yorkers don't wear sweatpants? LIKE HELL THEY DONT

Some of their songs are OK, but if I never hear "Get Lucky" again I'll be happy. That song sucks.

Um, OK. You're never going to make me believe that "Same Love" is a bad song tho. I've heard it. I know it's a good song. I'm not going to criticize him for his choice of subject matter because compared to a lot of rappers out there, it's excellent.

I hear what you're saying but can we all just stop fronting like Macklemore is a bad person or some shit? He put out a decent album and he won some awards he didn't really deserve.

Cool deal. I guess I can see why that might annoy you. But most pop music is about nothing at all, and most rap music is about sex, or money, or how good a rapper you are (at least, the stuff that gets played on the radio). So somebody comes along and makes a song about something real and personal with a positive
