Wrong. Manual transmission > Mamby pamby autotragic girls transmission.
Wrong. I hate the benz because it's automatic. Stickshift + FWD > automatic RWD, any day of the week.
LOL. Honda at 300k is more reliable than a benz at 50k.
Turn in you man card and start quilting.
Look how fucking small the part that rolls down is. You do NOT need a huge mechanism for that. I'm guessing it was just easier/cheaper to get formed plastic, and they aren't going to make many anyway, so they said fuck it and went with cheap plastic because it was cheaper to produce, but then turned around and said…
But I'm not saying they should have done here and there. The simple fact is poly carb is nowhere NEAR as durable as glass, and will scratch very easily through normal use. This means they will need to replace the windows, which goes AGAINST the whole philosophy behind the car: being more efficient and kinder to our…
But it isn't anything remotely to do with convenience! If the car got 300mpg but only last 1 year before it fell apart, what do you call that? Because that's effectively what they did by using poly carb windows. They will not last, and they will need to be replaced often, no matter what fancy coating they have on…
They will not last. There is a reason OEMs don't use polycarb windows. Coatings wear off. You'll need to replace the windows on this frequently, if you can afford it, which you can't, because they made it out of CF.
I'm a product designer, and that's not what I'm suggesting at all. Nice straw man argument, but what I'm saying is still valid. This car was built to be efficient. Okay, great. But they made it out of a material that cannot be recycled, and they made the windows out of polycarb... which does NOT hold up on actual…
Keep in mind that's only because the XL1 can run on electric only for a few miles, so it skews the numbers a massive amount. This is the same flawed logic that GM tried to use in it's Volt advertising campaign. Remember 230mpg? Yeah. Not really.
Yes, great steering. What I did love are a few small details. The undertray is this felt-like fabric. The side windows are made of polycarbonate. The interior door pulls are straight off an Aventador, which is the right kind of parts sharing. The manual windows are a fantastic touch.
Here's a quick refresher on the specs, in case you forgot: the XL1 is a mid-engine, two-seat, rear-wheel drive car with a .08-liter turbodiesel engine coupled to an electric motor that gets power from a 5-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It only has 74 combined horsepower and weighs 1,700 pounds thanks to its plethora of…
The G8 was great, because it was truly a competitor to ze germans, and was a TRUE enthusiasts car. This thing, with an automatic transmission? Meh. Would rather have used BMW with a stickshift. If people like me aren't interested in this car, it won't sell because it's not a true enthusiast vehicle. This is a…

Actually he lowered the engineless vette onto the honda motor, which was on a stand. :)
2 things:
Sure! They also have radiators and cooling passages already there. Huge plus in that department.
