It does matter when the studio has decided that $1 billion is their mark.  Trailing a billion is not making a billion, so in the eyes of the studio - a failure.

Even then, broadly speaking: why does it matter if a movie did/didn’t make $1 billion? A movie can be successful without getting to $1 billion.

Is this a Black thing? Does Perlmutter keep ringing Laurence Fishburne about Nick Cage stuff?

I think the big problem is that people aren’t willing to wait for the buildup anymore. I think the big problem isn’t that people aren’t willing to wait for the buildup, it’s that the core characters being focused on in Phase 4 don’t have the charisma or team dynamic that made Phases 1-2 work even with a few of the more mediocre stories.

None of the new actors have the appeal that ScarJo, Evans,

When all your movies have to make more than half a billion dollars to be considered a success, your already on thin ice. I get the cost involved, but this isn’t sustainable. I was a huge Marvel fan, but I’m bored and I don’t see anything of theirs now until it hits Disney Plus, and I am surely not alone.

Most normal people: “Dang, sounds like a lot of drama an executive meddling. I suppose it’s expected of a company this size.”

Those Weirdos Online: “GET WOKE GO BROOKEEE. This is what happens when you make a GIRL a superhero! I called this with Captain Marvel! The day has finally come!”

Agreed. There isn’t going to be a long slow decline. The MCU as we know it will end one day, unexpectedly.

A reboot is where you go from there.

Much as I think Dark Souls 2 is grossly underrated (Shrine of Amana is a good zone dammit), it’s hard to argue with any ranking of Soulsborne games because they’re all so good!

Yeah that isn’t even scratching the surface of Perlmutter being a total piece of shit. It's telling it took his takeover attempt for Disney to be done with him, but he should have been fired years ago.

i don’t think things will go as you think—these films are expensive, and shareholders expect certain returns. to be plain—they won’t greenlight films that they see on a downward trend. that’s not a winning strategy—that’s mediocrity. i’m guessing disney is looking to reboot the shit out of marvel by rushing the

I don’t see these things hurting Marvel and Disney too much, tbh. After all, we are kinda entering the “Simpsons Season 10+” phase of the MCU, where a lot of its cultural dominion is starting to fade, the cracks are starting to show, and passion from the fanbase will start to decline.

Definitely more excited for a friendly neighborhood Spiderman.

Elden Ring is the only one of these games that I’ve played, so I can’t participate in these rankings in good faith. However, I can say confidently that Elden Ring is the best video game I’ve ever played. In fact, I would rank it up there with some of the best movies, television shows, and works of literature that I

I get that it was great for networking and that press could get value out of the show, by having all their game preview appointments be in one spot, but other than that I don’t think the vast majority of people engaging with the show online are really losing anything here.

I guess the one downside of E3's absence is that we’ll miss out on comically awful press conferences. Konami’s 2010 E3 conference is an absolute classic.

I can’t really blame the major publishers for wanting to get out of E3. As much as it was always an aspirational event for young developers and a holiday for gamers back in the day, the bigger and more extravagant it got, the less it became a trade-show for the industry and the more it became about marketing to the

Fuck, are we now going to have to be nostalgic about corporate marketing events?!?
