I had Prime video for a while and wasn't particularly impressed.  What really did it in for me was not working with Chromecast.  I know they want to sell you a Fire TV device, but when every other streaming service works with it, I'll take a hard pass on the one that doesn't.

Yup, I have an '06 Sportster and am in the same boat.  There have been some new models I wouldn't mind, but not for the money. Especially as cheap and available as parts are to keep mine on the road.

The other problem they have selling to my generation is that they sold so many bikes to so many boomers that garaged them and barely rode them that the used market is enormous.

Can’t argue with any of that, and when I’m wearing sandals I drive barefoot. Without carpeting, savage that I am. I guess my priorities lean towards maintenance and cleaning ease.

This is from experience. A rubber/vinyl/plastic floor means you can do the following:

I just read through this whole thread, and... Damn. Lots of hand-wringing over 5%.

What mine has become:

They can be.  That's the point of them, after all.  But if you have a floor that can be cleaned reasonably easily, you don't need to deal with that crap

Fortunately for me, my car already has a plastic floor, but I like the way you’re thinking. And I have actually removed and reinstalled the seats and floor of this car before (prepping for some floor/body rust repair by a shop), so I’ve had some practice myself. With the original carpets as templates, it might

The problem is that the main floor covering necessitates things like Weathertech floor mats. What is even the benefit of carpeted floors then, if you just have to cover them with another layer that doesn’t let you see or feel the carpet?

This has been one of my most frequent automotive rants for as long as I’ve been driving. The past few years driving a Honda Element have been great in that way. Salt and mud are just permanent parts of the carpet it my wife’s car, and I’ve given up cleaning it with anything beyond a vacuum.

Fellow Vermonter, and could have written this myself if you hadn't done it for me.

I hear you. Living in Vermont, every trip has to layover at a real airport, so I’ve been to JFK and Philly many times. I can’t speak for security, Uber, etc. But I’ll take a layover at JFK any day.

It’s only a model

That perception was shattered for me a few years ago when the resort I work at hosted the Porsche Parade, the big, nation wide meet for the PCA.
