Amy Schumer’s Mexican joke is a prime example of “hipster racism.” Not funny, and not effective at subverting anything. Talk about Chris Rock and Dave Chapelle all you want, but you can’t compare a white woman repeating the same old racist tropes to minorities making fun of racists.

There is absolutely nothing about Lena Dunham that I enjoy.

That I can respect and understand. She is definitely deserving of warranted criticism for some of her comedy pandering to the lowest common denominator. I just don’t think it excuses this guy’s behavior or makes Schumer or feminists the bad guy in this particular exchange.

I can’t relate to “what if this happened to me?” I can only relate via my relationship with women. I have never been sexually or physically victimized and have little chance of it ever happening to me. So I’m trying to sympathize as best I can.
