The word cancelled specifically indicates when negative public opinion causes a celebrity’s value/desirability to drop significantly outside of their product/talent/capability. Ringo isn’t cancelled - his drop in popularity is caused by a lack of current distinction, not by an overall negative impression of Ringo.

Language is a living, breathing thing. It works by usage, not ascription. Insisting definition for words in spite of their usage is just a recipe for heartbreak.

Yep. I don’t want it to be true either, but after about the fourth or fifth story, innocence is gone and guilt is proven, and I’m not going to wait for a court to confirm before bowing out.

Welp, there it is. Kinda knew it was coming but secretly hoped I’d be wrong.

You just don’t understand the concept. It doesn’t mean “gone forever.” It just means, “currently not happening.” Many things return after they’re cancelled. You know, like the TV show Roseanne in 2018, or your netflix subscription once your ex changes their password.

O’Connor went from being a sensation to nobody. All of her potential annihilated. Yes, she still makes albums and tours, but she will never again touch what she had. She went from musical guest on SNL to being booed offstage at madison square garden.

Barr lost out on being a household name and being on a show named for

Sinead O’Connor. And while we’re on Connors, Roseanne Barr. Dixie Chicks. Kevin Spacey.

Yes, they still find some work, and eventually people forget/forgive and they work again, but they certainly had big careers sent to the meat grinder by the court of public opinion.

Given how the records on the case are already sealed, If we don’t see potential former victims speaking up, I suspect we won’t find out much, and this will likely settle with little fanfare and less explanation.

Letting Roiland run on his own is pure chaos. If you like unexpected/random, it can be really funny. If not, I’d imagine it’s tedious.

It’s in an ivory tower that has a ring doorbell camera.

No, in this hellscape we’re replacing Roiland with Frank Welker. Rick and Morty will have the voices of Fred and Scooby Doo for the next season, as Rick and Morty C-137-s, until everybody forgets they were offended and roiland comes back with a half-assed apology to thundering applause.

I really don’t know why you think people who despise J.K. Rowling for her bigotry would be cool with this

Not so fun facts:
It’s not assault, it’s battery, which is worse because that means it caused actual damage.
It’s only kidnapping if you move them against their will.

It’s probably the clearest, most ethical path to doing so at the moment.

If this is indeed true, I suspect we’re about to hear from a lot of women.

From what I’ve read of the situation, miscommunication caused the union to put him under a lot of stress by means of a very short deadline, and that pissed him off. But sensationalism trims out the reasonable bits.

I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop - the “me too”s. If we see that, I’ll take it as confirmation he’s a piece of shit. Other than that it’s hard to make the call on exactly what this is. Based on the info we have/lack thereof, and giving the victim the benefit of the doubt that the charges are true, this one

The difference with Rowling is that it’s not a single incident. If she’d have said her piece and then apologized for it, I could have forgiven her. But the issue is she doubled down on it over and over again that it’s almost become part of her brand.

His robot arm is more or less a regular gun. Vash himself is the monstrous weapon, which his pistol was made as a catalyst for triggering.

Yeah, Overall I liked it (7/10) though there were a lot of odd decisions that made the episode feel a bit hollow, like it was too much exposition and too little story.
