True, the probability of him hitting a person at that range is pretty slim. However, he is still firing his weapon in the direction of a school, with the potential to hit a kid. He (and the kids) would have been safer if he would have just stayed in the vehicle.

It’s hard to say, but the school looks to be maybe 200 yards away. That’s a lethal range.
