If you didn’t buy both then what would you drive at your Lake Como estate and your Ski Chateau in Colorado. Transportation costs between the two would just kill you so it’s only reasonable to buy the pair.

Yeah, the last time I rented a car I don’t recall there being an “average car with chrome on it” category. I would also be shocked to see a rental agency offer a 3 series besides any other pretty average car.
