Interesting point about fuel taxes between the US and Europe. On the flip side energy costs are an economy tax on everything from UPS deliveries to manufacturing to heating costs for the poor. As a follow up to an earlier point, it would be legal to give a 30% discount to those who use snapshot and then increase everyone's rates by 15% thus making approximately a 15% penalty for those who opt out and a 15% discount for those who opt in.
It doesn't take much to change this from a "30% discount" for those who opt in to a rate hike for those who do not.
For 35k I'd buy it in a heartbeat. There are 500 other cars that would have to disappear off the face of the earth before I got around to being willing to pay 250k for this car.
