I was amazed at the difference. When our chain driven 1/2hp Liftmaster blew out it’s drive gear, I swapped it for a 3/4hp belt driven Chamberlain (also Liftmaster) unit. WHOA. Incredibly quiet. Lifts our standard roll up door with ease.

Another vote for Nest. I’ve had my Gen 1 Nest Thermostat since mid 2012. Will never go back.

I got Elite by using the Marriott black visa card. It didn’t take long to get status.

It works. Well. Also works well at weddings/events with open bars. You will get better pours and priority service from near any bartender if you do this.

I had above-average luck as a Silver Elite member with Marriott. But when I hit Gold the upgrades really got nice. Breakfast, concierge level, better rooms, early check-in, etc. These are all built-in perks to Gold Elite status, but I can tell ya they are great.
