I’m definitely over the “even MORE GRITTY reboot” trend. Newsflash, directors: in a competition for “grittiest event”, you’re up against 2020 and the entire Trump administration. You can’t top that.

Do you enjoy setting up ridiculous straw-man arguments to appear morally superior? Andrew has nothing to do with this.

Literally talking about the excerpts from Finding Freedom, not trashy tabloids.

FYI: When you watch a movie at home...the food and drink you consume during that time weren’t free.

When I got to a movie, part of the cost is the movie experience. Dark theater, big screen, good sound.

Disney will probably see a difference in purchases by region. In places where tickets are like $20 anyway they’d probably see more takers, but here a normal ticket is $7. This isn’t worth it for me, considering the disc will be cheaper and I’ve already waited this long to see a remake of a movie I’ve already seen.

Pre-pandemic matinee tickets are like $6 around here, so my wife was already not thrilled with the $20 prices Universal and what not were charging. But at least most of those actually let you keep it in your digital library, and it cost around the same price as a Blu-ray, so we bought a few anyway that we might not

The hell I will...

Yeah, I don’t get this at all. My Netflix queue is, like, 300 titles long (no joke; I’m easily suggestible, apparently) and I’m in the middle of several series already. And these live action remakes are ridic cash grabs in the first place. No thanks, Disney.

Six times more expensive than one $5 ticket, which is all I’d ever buy when I went to movies in the theatre. I always go to matinees or on cheap days and never buy any concessions.

Nah, I wouldn’t pay more than I would for a DVD or digital copy of something, which is $20... if it’s a limited time viewing, and not a copy, probably not even that.

Hahaha. No. I’m patient. I can wait.

What exactly does the $30 get you? A single viewing? 24 hour rental? What?

You are definitely going to pay this stupidly rich company to watch this movie.”  Uh, no... No I won’t.  I’ll watch stuff that’s been out for awhile and is a lot cheaper, or free.  Just watch stuff that’s older, stick with it, and you will always have the same amount of stuff to watch, just cheaper.  There is no need

Don’t decide for us Catie. Come on. It’s not going to happen.

Yep, said the same thing during the whole Marie Kondo “does it bring you joy” thing. No, it doesnt bring me joy, but I can’t afford another if I need it later so here it is in the drawer for several years.

I loved The Sims (yes, the original Sims) and want to play the new ones, but it seems like I would need to take out a second mortgage to afford all the DLC.

Yes, it’s convenient. Even my own friends would have been able to truthfully testify that they never saw even a hint of abuse from my ex-husband. Meanwhile, he tried to kill me twice.

Speaking from experience here... Clever abusers ALWAYS abuse behind closed doors while painting themselves as friendly and loving. Idiotic ones might have their abuse on full display, but it is entirely possible Depp’s staff was unaware of how he was treating her, if true. I don’t think Depp is particularly idiotic.

Isn’t that how domestic violence works?

THIS. This was exactly what I came here to write. It’s always bugged me that no one ever talks about Depp at 26 dating a 17 year old virgin (she admitted he was her first). That’s a whole different kind of abusive, sweet Winona—he may not have hit you, but he definitely preyed on your youth and innocence.
