@msAnthrope: She was ruthless! Killed her husband to become Queen, killed or incarcerated all her threats to the throne (having befriended the military and other important persons before her husband died)...she was meticulously cold blooded. I'm so horrified that I'm fascinated.
@Vivi21: Or a little Ranavalona I, perhaps? [en.wikipedia.org]
@I Believe In Peace, Bitch: "...there would be just as many stories of corrupt female dictators as there are of male ones."
The problem with putting women on a pedestal: we'll fall just that much harder. Would women even be persecuted for their sexuality (among other issues) if they weren't expected to be "better" than that? I know it sounds weird to argue that women can be just as bad as men, but without that understanding, we're never…
@N●Gage Croal is applying for Mann Co.: U R MIA, Y?
One great thing to come out of the U R MR. GAY controversy: my boyfriend and I had a new insult to sling back and forth while taunting each other during Mario Kart.
I kinda like her and this show looks appealing but the "OMGWTF you mean NOT EVERYONE thinks thin is beautiful?" is a little annoying.
I saw this "joke" on Tiny Cartridge, and they did it a little funnier...
@andBegorrah: No kidding. Thank you for saying that. I'm not in the best place with my eating right now, and 1300 calories is burned on my brain at the moment, as is that little 10X rule.
What is it that Liz Lemon likes to say? I believe it goes "Mah ha ya BURNT".
@HallelujahRIP: I know, right? Who looks at the aftermath of the Carrie Prejean situation and thinks to themselves, "You know what, that sounds like a great idea, I'll talk about how gays should just like die already."
Pierce Brosnan sounds dreamy. Also feeling bad for Mary J. and Precious triggering some awful memories for her.
Were those boots hideous? Yes. Is it ever acceptable to critique your coworker's appearance? NO.
@My cat hates Tom Cruise: You win the Internet.
@rogerdoger: I'm sure my parents considered this required reading. I remember they would incite other families into fundamentalism and help them systematically tear apart their house and get rid of anything that could even remotely be construed as "secular" and throw it out. I never understood why they thought Mighty…
@duetoprivacy: Oh, no biggie, I don't mind.
@cate3710: And made us watch. It was a tradition they continued when we were older, with an added cruel and cowardly twist: when they found volumes of anime hidden in my youngest sister's room at age 13, they burned them in front of my other sister's face then made HER tell my youngest sister what they'd done.
These kinds of topics always make me depressed. I had everything I wanted until about age six when my parents converted to fundamentalist Christianity and burned every single last one of my "demonic" toys.
@BrynnP: Heh yes I do have to agree, the editing at the end of the second vid was very Home Movies-ish. Love that show.
