No. Transmissions are not efficient. The only reason cars have transmissions is the ICE. Once that is relegated to enthusiast cars, the transmission will be a relic of a bygone era like the carburetor or drum brakes.

Transmissions (both auto and manual) are stupid. Direct drive is far superior in every aspect.

2006-2007 are the sweet spot for the P2 ones, and 2009+ T6 are the way to go for the P3 ones... I have heard the 3.2 is a little anemic (it's not turbo'd) Also I'd look at the XC60 T6 if you are willing to go for a crossover. You should be able to find an 06-07 one for 9k with 80k miles.
