Sonic Mania is a lot better than the Sonic 4 game you’re thinking of. A little over half of the levels re-use themes from previous Sonic games but the layouts are re-mixed. That’s all there is to it. There’s no references to “get”.

Just go to a yearly naming method already. Call of Duty 2019, Call of Duty 2020, etc.

February isn’t a dumping ground for films like it used to be. Deadpool, Black Panther, Get Out and The Lego Movie were all released in February and were still huge hits.

All the individual FX artists didn’t fuck anything up. The decision makers behind Sonic’s design did.

I’ve seen people floating that theory but the reality is there is no way a major motion picture studio would allow that to happen.

It reeks of being designed by committee. It was tweaked and updated so much during the design process, they got away from what makes Sonic, Sonic and weren’t in a place to see that for themselves.
