If you want to use it off Verizon's network (like in a foreign country) then slap in a sim, on VZN network you don't need the sim forget it. The sim card slot being there shouldn't be an issue. Use it or forget it.

@ninja_togo: I don't think that most Verizon phones have sim card slots. I have only had three so far and none of them have had them. VZN world phones maybe?
