I smell a Kickstarter. I'll be first to donate!

i’d throw some kickstarter $$ at that goal.

Incredible story, and equally incredible photos. Good luck!

It’s ridiculous to think about how people owned collector’s icons back then and didn’t quite know what they had other than a really fast car.

My dad sold a 1964 GTO 4 speed Tri power when i came along. 4k in 1984

I feel bad for this guy, the comment made me sad, but to have a father who would sell a Miura! A Miura! If only all people were as good as him.

my family sold a 356c and a 356b roadster in 1997 for $13k and $36k respectively... no reason except my dad didn’t want to pay theinsurance premiums. i’m not kidding... I vomit in my mouth every time I think about it. #shortsightedasfuck

If I were the billionaire that bought this thing, I’d give it back to the guy after hearing his story and simply wait for the next opportunity to buy a Miura for myself. I’d hate to be the one to deprive a guy of his wildly unrealistic ambition to reunite his family with their long lost and absurdly valuable classic.

I actually did the same thing. When my wife and I were getting our first house together, I sold my beloved 1968 Galaxie 500 (first car!) to help buy stuff for the kids, deposit, etc. Sometimes I can still smell and hear that 390.

I don’t think dad’s gonna be too broken up about this one.

This might be the most tragic COTD in the history of COTD. Beverages are now being poured out.

I’m trying to get my dad the pea-green Ford Pinto he had when I was a kid, but he keeps giving it back to me.

Dad’s old truck was totaled. I still want to find one like it someday. Fortunately, Sierras are a little more common :(

I hear ya. My father’s 427 Cobra he owned for three weeks in ‘67 before he had to join the USAF by choice or get drafted goes across the line for insane amounts of money every now and then.

A really good Dad! Wow!

Story really resonates here. I sold my beautiful ‘72 914 (signal yellow) in 1980 to help make the downpayment on my wife’s and my first house; I still want it back.

wow...this is a tough one and I hope that he gets his dads old car back. I am trying to get my dad his old car (just make and model, can’t find the actual vehicle)...and I can sympathize with what he’s trying to do.

That’s a great man. And wow that would make me sick to my stomach.

What a goddamn good pop.
