This sounds like a pretty sophisticated operation for a used car dealer to run, and the numbers cited aren’t massive. Given that this happened in Providence and the Feds got involved, I’m guessing organized crime. Perhaps a variation of the “Bust Out” method of The Sopranos?

This discussion also seems to ignore a very important fact: America’s population has increased 50% in the past 50 years. Average car ownership per household has similarly skyrocketed. All those people and cars have to be/go somewhere, and that somewhere is our roads.

As someone who recently watched the series for the first time, I will recommend that you don’t plan on binge watching it.  It’s too intense for more than a couple episodes per day, and you’ll want to reflect on each one for a bit before moving on to the next.
