I never understood it either.  Dad wasn’t an alpha competitive type otherwise.  My best guess is he liked to drive fast from his early days driving on SoCal roads in the early 60's. Maybe he was bored on the road and liked to chase down traffic to stay interested.

My father was one of those people who did not like to be passed. The only cars that passed us were either fleeing from the cops or the cops chasing them. It’s not like we were ever running late, either, It was totally a competition to him.

Funny how Washington state uses roundabouts as a “we give up” method of traffic control. They get put in places where there is too much traffic for all-way stops to work, and not enough space for a full traffic light setup.  The result is slowing down traffic in all directions, but that is probably the point.

What is there to report? Dude sees, hears & knows nothing.

I would say the biggest negative impact super lifted trucks have on traffic safety is the visibility issues they create for other drivers. Not being able to see more than 15 feet ahead can make drivers skiddish.

You should also make your last-minute mad dash in a 25+ year old RV that has had no maintenance performed in the last decade.

Two decades of endless wars where troops were conditioned to suspect anyone not in the same uniform to be a potential threat is going to leave us with some f’d up police and security forces for a while.

I’m sure there was some stand-up comic in the 80's that had a bit about what life would be like if every driver was a pizza delivery guy. We are living in that world now, where every body either has no idea where they are or are so comfortable where they are that they pay no attention.
