Apparently you didn’t get the memo that saying someone else’s account isn’t 100% accurate is now “gaslighting” and “invalidating their experience.”

She’ll be giving a speech about how it would have been much better if the half that died were all men and launch a campaign to teach young girls coding in order to hack and destroy 4chan. Then something about being vegan just just to make sure she's properly pissed off people that like to overreact on the internet.
Iwan Rheon had already established himself as a cracking young actor well before he was cast on Game of Thrones.
Counterpoints: Disco doesn’t remind me of other Star Trek shows, Orville has more in common with Voyager than TNG, most of Orville’s humor is out of place and not funny, Orville’s CG is too plastic, we haven’t seen this Spock before at this time in his life so he’s not there for nostalgic reasons, and Orville isn’t a…
Oh please. Both Disco and Orville are guilty of making episodes where I have to switch my brain off. Neither are endearing examples of Trek’s appeal.
Your ideas intrigue me, and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
I can’t trust reviews for Marvel movies at this point. I saw Black Panther with a group of friends and every single one thought the movie was generic superhero movie with some thinking it was a total snooze fest. When we went to see it every blogger was dying about it and it had like a 108% on RT. Reviews just aren’t…
Who gives a shit what they think? Honestly, I’m at the point where I find the backlash against the backlash just as annoying as the original backlash. The people who refuse to see a movie because it has A Woman in it and the people who will only see a movie because it has a A Woman in it are just two sides of the same…
The best written male characters from the Marvel movies aren’t even technically MCU characters I’d say: Peter Parker (Raimi films) and Professor X / Magneto.
How many of the MCU male characters have actually been well-written? 2? 3?
A real win for women would be if a high-profile movie written and directed by a woman, starring a woman, could fail or succeed on artistic merit rather than as some stupid fucking proxy in the culture wars.
After endless weeks of the AV Club hyping this up sight unseen, it’s nice to see it get a mediocre review here.
Also relevant is that Spielberg is a partner in Screening Room, a company that proposes allowing people to screen first-run movies in their home, as soon as they are released in cinemas. Spielberg does not view the theatre experience as sacrosanct when he can make money of home viewing.
Thank God somebody is finally talking about this. Is there any more pressing issue facing us than whether or not movies I wouldn’t watch in the theater can compete with movies I wouldn’t stream at home for an award I won’t watch either of them receive?
What happened with Aziz is a good reminder that the ‘it’ status of comedians in the ‘cancel’ era really does come and go.
I think John may still be a bit too niche (and much of his most fervent following is the tumblr/twitter crowd, who live to be outraged and cancel and find their next flavor of the month), but he’s definitely blown up over the last year. His last SNL hosting stint is where I first saw him, and he’s popped up in so much…
normies.
The closest thing that the first Guardians of the Galaxy had to a big star was Zoe Saldana, and that mostly on the basis of Avatar, in which she was unrecognizable. Bradley Cooper played a raccoon and Vin Diesel played a tree, and it also had some wrestler and a lady who used to be in Dr. Who and, you know, that one…
And if he wasn’t a “professional”, would you expect him to just start beating the shit out of Viggo because all black people are clearly violent thugs who can’t help themselves and must be protected from their own unstoppable hulk-like rage whenever the forbidden word is uttered?
It’s not my right to make that…
but is it your right DR Drake either to dictate how anyone should feel outside of your own emotional response?
I’m not seeing the differentation here
