And he made Devil’s Backbone which was basically just Spanish Civil War Orphan Misery Porn with a brief cameo by a ghost.
Basically Del Toro doesn’t really make “monster” movies, he just makes movies with monsters in them.

The Troll Market scene pretty much describes everything that is great and awful about Del Toro’s Hellboy, to be honest.
It’s gorgeous, stunning, extremely memorable and pretty much diametrically opposed to the comics.
“Mind you, there aren’t any actual jokes on display, which is kind of a weird choice for an adaptation of a very funny book.”
It’s probably to do with the fact that while the book is incredibly humorous, the core story is taken more or less entirely seriously.
I expect it’ll lighten up by the second or third trailer.
Eh, a lot of revolutionaries actually tend to come from some relatively privilaged backgrounds. People who spend every day struggling to get by are generally too busy surviving to really sit and ponder about their conditions.
I think Killmonger having a shitty-but-relatively-ok upbringing works better than some…
I mean, Cersei is amazing in the book because she’s this intentionally awful incompetent villain deconstructed by a good writer. It’s not love-to-hate in a typical “wow this villain is lowkey kinda cool” sort of way, instead it’s like watching a mesmerizing trainwreck. You’re not really enjoying yourself, but you…
Falcon is a bore, but yes to Bucky.
Admittedly this does look cherrypicked, but my point remains.
Yeah, I don’t wanna go quite as far as “omg why do you have to inject politics into everythiiiiiiiiing” territory, but I really just want them to crack the fuck on and focus first and foremost on salvaging this supposed clusterfuck of a season into a coherent whole.
Fuck me, they’re all just transforming into different interpretations of Rasputin.
Yeah, but it’s so annoying when it repeatedly translates into the reputation he has.
He’s still writing new stories and as far as his personal life/views/interests go, the man is absolutely insane in a good way. I’m sure he’d be more than happy to chat about this or that compared to thirty fucking years of hearing WATCH…
Alan Moore gets way too much hate, to be honest.
He’s a grumpy old man, yes, but the vast majority of “Alan Moore is a massive prick” stories this past decade typically involve some smug journalist wanker knocking on the door of his Northampton cottage to purposely bother him with baited questions, getting rightfully…
Oh yeah, I guess.
Normally I would be with you on the extended worldbuilding implications, but Falchuk and Murphy can’t even write a single season without creating a clusterfuck, so in a way I’m happy with AHS shared universe being non-existent unless explicitly called upon.
Why not?
I remember Cult as being pretty much Even Peters trying to do a Fight Club thing only for it to turn out he was unknowingly part of Sarah Paulson’s attempt at doing a Fight Club thing.
That and the ‘bad apples’ bit, as well. Get a load of this guy, injecting ACAB out of nowhere.
Creepy and inappropriate sure, but “extremely powerful man that could create significant roadblocks for them if they turned him down”?
I would considering getting cucked by your own brother to be sufficient grounds for a long-term major fallout. It’s not something they would still feud about in 50 years time, but at their age right there and then? It might as well be the end of the fucking world for Hank.
I don’t think it really matters whether Dean…
Honest, non-snarky question, what stuff did women actually do in TLJ?
Holdo: Won’t say anything to anyone for purely nonsensical meta-plot reasons, everything completely backfires, forced to commit suicide.
Rose: Hates casino planet, releases those CGI horse things, her and Finn’s plans backfire, ruins Finn’s plan to…
I don’t think the show is going to turn Serena into a real villain’s villain who purposely seduced both brothers, but the three of them are absolutely going to unwittingly fall into the usual trappings of Guild nonsense. In a true VB fashion, they’re going to staunchly deny being anything like it, all while going…
They were talking about the general feasibility of hyperspace kamikaze warfare and the lack of any related applications in the overall setting, not specifically during TLJ.
Stop being an utter prick over a comment you’ve actively misread, you total dumbass.
