Coens doing BM would be wonderful, but considering they've already done one McCarthy adaptation and one western, they'd probably look at it (and not wrongly, considering the type of directors they are, compared to say, Tarantino or John Ford) as treading too familiar a territory.

Absolutely. That's one of the reasons I'm psyched for Low Winter Sun. AMC's track record isn't good, and they already shat the bed with their last dour cop show, but I've been saying for years that Mark Strong should be given the chance to take the lead in something.

@avclub-501c54d131c3b93043a744af0c259c58:disqus : Dianna Ross is in The Wiz with Richard Pryor, who's in Lost Highway with Bill Pullman, who's in Malice with Nicole Kidman, who's in Invasion of the Body Snatchers with Daniel Craig. With 2 to spare motherfucker!

She's on Treme. She plays a mean violin, but her singing leaves a bit to be desired. Excellent side-boob however.

@bromidestain:disqus I would never denigrate anyone for not liking, even despising Inland Empire (though I love it so), but I don't see how someone who likes Lynch could find it uninteresting. It really seemed like the entire culmination of his work, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he never made another

If we're being reductionist, I'd compare Nolan more to Ridley Scott than anyone else. Thoughtful, but not really intellectually deep; big populist epics with grander ideas than most films of that ilk. Unlike Scott, he doesn't really seem that interested in anything outside of a certain kind of action and or thrillers

Assassination of Jesse James, There Will Be Blood and No Country For Old Men make such a brilliant thematic trilogy about the rise and fall of the American west that its ridiculous how they each came out at the same time.

Yeah right there with you on Talladega Nights. It's generally liked by most people I know, but I think it's one of the best comedies of the the best comedies of the last twenty years. I think it is a perfect encapsulation of Bush's America. On top of that, I find it actually engaging on a story level and I think the
