I’m pointing out that it’s problematic how we’re couching some of these discussions. There’s no need for you to put on condescending airs.

I’m really getting irritated with the trend of treating this story like it’s entertainment and not peoples’ lives. The story you link to is tagged “entertainment;” people complaining about spoilers for something that, until recently, mostly died down 10 years ago; a “spin-off” about Jodi?

The defense should have moved it to a further away venue. We’re talking about a bunch of small towns here—it’d have been damn near impossible to get a jury that didn’t have someone related to someone else associated with the authorities.

Posted upthread:

That was the line that the prosecution was deriding during the trial (Kratz’s closing maybe? Maybe the Dassey trial?) : as if the defense was saying that because authorities maybe planted evidence, that is was the same as accusing the authorities of murdering Halbach and framing Avery to get rid of a settlement.

So, I just finished this docuseries last night, having spaced out my viewings because of blood pressure and garden variety horror. I’m still horrified.

If there’s anything midwesterners are good at, it’s hiding their biases and coming up with other justifications for racism.

Agreed. We need a re-examination.

YES

Bingo. There’s alternate suspects, and shady shit happened during the investigation. Order a retrial, but don’t try saying they guilty or innocent until this mess is straightened out.

This is ridiculous. A miscarriage of justice doesn’t prove their innocence. Is a new trial possible???

This is my concern with a magnetic mount. Why wouldn’t my phone become a projectile in an accident? I have a Nexus 6P—I don’t need what’s basically a small tablet flying at my head or family if we get in a crash. At least with an adhesive/grip mount, that’s properly installed, I have some semblance of safety. Right??

With the knowledge gained from a bachelor’s in writing at my disposal, I wrote back, “LOL.”

There’s a website for lost school rings! I’m hoping my HS ring turns up some day. My college roommate ran a hair salon out of our dorm room...needless to say, a lot of our stuff went missing over the course of the semester. http://www.classringfinder.com/

I broke down and just finished the second Avery episode and I’m horrified. Second guessing everything I know... while knowing miscarriage of justice has become common place here. It’s not the place I thought it was.

This advice needs more stars. I remember as a tween feeling embarrassed that my mom fielded the questions from my doc—and I was too intimidated to ask her to buzz off so I could have a private chat with the doc we’d been going to for years. We should be teaching kids how to advocate and ask questions for themselves in

I used to share that sentiment. It’s gone now, however. We need solid, full-time, well-paying jobs in Wisconsin. And the representatives that our populace continues to elect into government, term after mind-numbing term, are bloviating racist assholes who have no intention of turning this place around.

Yes—warmth appeals, however.

My father-in-law brings up the blacklisting of the Dixie Chicks every time I see him. It’s ridiculous they’ve been sidelined like that. There were plenty of folks pushing back, back then. Indeed: funny that bar.
