Progress is measured by what is socially acceptable. A good way to see what is socially acceptable is by looking at pop culture. Pop culture has always been important in shaping social moors, this is why we read literature from different time periods.

I cant lie- the wee lad Zukka definitely loved those movies growing up. But as a discerning adult who understands (on a basic level, at least) who makes for well-created entertainment and what good acting is.... Yeesh

It is! Shyamalan modeled it after comic books. For example he purposefully made sure no characters ever talk over each other, and to move the camera to show who is talking in a scene, to mimic the effects of speech bubbles.

hahaha exactly!

This is a great point! You’re definitely correct that the MCU output is “movie 1st” “comic book 2nd” for the most part, as opposed to, say, Spider-Verse (which is at the opposite end of the spectrum in that it’s barely a movie and more a comic book LITERALLY coming to life). Although i disagree a bit, i think a lot of

HARD disagree! It’s not even the best of the 3 (thatd be 2). The Danny Elfman theme is prettu good, and obviously JK Simmons is great. But MJ is a totally useless character, Dunst/Maguire have little chemistry, the Green Goblin costume looks RIDICULOUS, pretty much any of the non J Jonah Jameson dialogue is cringey....

I know that it is a bad thing when Disney owns the IP of literally every major movie franchise ever (Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel), but in this case it really sucks! Tom Holland is great and the MCU as a whole is very enjoyable.

Randy, Dukie, and Wallace. They're just kids!!!!!! They're sweet nice kids! Jesus its brutal

“They gonna come talk to me about MONEY LAUNDERING? IN WEST BALTIMORE?! SHEEEEIT"

Ive been meaning to read George Pelecanos. He wrote all of the best episodes!

I think its progress- equality, where men and women are truly equal, means that companies should look at them and go after them equally.

Hahaha thats awesome!

When Bodie claims entrapment clocking into Hamsterdam, to avoid prosecution in S3.... When he and McNulty quickly share lunch in S4.... When he outsmarts Herc and Carver’s good-cop-bad-cop routine in S1.....

Having zero experience with the West Baltimore projects myself, ill wager it’s really not that far off.

hahaha and the patrol car pulls up to him and he just shows them his badge and they leave LOLOL

LMAO

He really is. It took me my 2nd viewing to really ‘get’ the port season, but it is excellent.

Most of those cops and politicians that are shitty are ALSO black, you dingus!

Oh hell yeah! That was also David Simon and Ed Burns

I love when Clay Davis rants at the mayor: ”WHERE THE HELL DO YOU THINK I GET MONEY TO RUN YOUR CAMPAIGN? FROM SOME TINY ASS LAUNDROMAT? ILL TAKE ANY MOTHERFUCKER’S MONEY IF HE GIVING IT AWAY!”
