RatM has some really good songs though. Killing In The Name of DEFINITELY holds up, and is verrrrrry relevant. Also, the thing I dislike about the ‘angsty’ label, is that you’re saying that the anger felt was disingenuous, not real, or not justified. Never! As other people have (rightly) pointed out- even if you don’t like the album, culturally speaking it’s a huge watershed moment, to have this ANGRY woman and it’s totally socially acceptable that she’s pissed off and not being quiet/demure/cute. And that was mainstream!

I guess, there’s definitely a lot of competition, but it really might be.
