Josh Tobias was never a top-anything prospect. I follow the Phils’ farm system very closely (better than the MLB club!), and Tobias is a plus hitter, very poor defender at 2B - think Dan Uggla for the very tip-top of his upside. But he’s also 23 and played A+ ball last year. I’ve never seen him ranked on a prospect

The prison guards that I know have pretty much the best-paying jobs in my economically-depressed Rust Belt county. They complain about how hard it is quite often, and I have little doubt that it is. But I have zero sympathy for anyone making in the top 10-20% income percentile in a poor town who complains about

How is this not a criminal act? I can understand why hits on other players in sports are protected from being prosecuted, but this is a clear, malicious, very violent assault upon a non-player. Any sport would be better off banning such a player for life as well.

The difference is that the Clinton Foundation (which includes the CGI you mention) is a public, nonprofit corporation whose stated mission is to improve lives of people in America and around the world.

For me, it is pretty simple. The Electoral College is undemocratic. It grants disproportionate voting power to people in less populous states. I said these things long before Trump, and I’ll say them long after Trump. Can you imagine if some other country held elections and gave the presidency to the 2nd leading

Spot on... single-issue liberals are infuriating. Ex., Sarah Palin decries gov’t spending on just about anything and everything - except that they should be spending soooo much more on Downs’ syndrome issues because her baby has it and by god now it’s the thing gov’t should be funding the most!

Ha, Chicago.... it barely even snows there! Upstate NY is laughing at your concept of “the streets all got plowed” while we ski to work.

One pair of liner gloves + insulated mittens is way better than two gloves, no matter the glove.

The problem with term limits is that it likely starts to shift power from the Representatives and Senators into the hands of longtime aides and staff members. Those positions are never going to be term-limited obviously, and a 30+ yr veteran staff member is going to have no trouble pushing their own agenda through

Some of the quotes I’ve read from so-called faithless Electoral College voters indicate that voting against their mandate (and Trump) is as much or more about eroding confidence in the Electoral College itself, so that we might move toward a true popular vote at some point.

(ummm.... they did play Michigan)

Aside from water pollution issues, the reason that so many oppose this pipeline is that it will help get tremendous amounts of Canadian oil to market, so much so that the carbon added from it will essentially doom us to some of the worst-case climate scenarios.

This is all great and true, and you are correct that liberals/progressives would do well to stand with Taiwan over China. The problem is twofold really:

Joe Paterno didn’t even break a law. How do you throw out 50 years of good for an (admittedly terrible) non-criminal failure on his part?

Yeah because all the players, most of whom are probably enjoying the most adulation they ever will in their lives, deserve to play their whole careers at PSU with announcers reminding everyone that they are all terrible terrible people because they go to PSU.

Spoken by someone who obviously doesn’t have to try to live on $7.25/hr.

Yeah, pfff who likes drinking WATER anyway

I wasn’t convinced by your awesome argument until you pulled out the Blue’s Clues reference.

There’s no actual evidence to indicate victims at PSU were actively silenced.
