I am legitimately surprised it wasn't Rihanna making out with a blonde model.

YAS!!

Haim is one of those groups that makes me feel simultaneously old and young at the same time. Old because I only have the slightest understanding of who they are without understanding where/when they came from, but young because their music sounds like something my mother listened to when she was my age.

Advanced apologies for the all caps but....

MORRIS DAY AND THE TIME IS THE SHIT!

Now playing

Dont get fooled, these kind of ideas seem to pop up everywere. Remember Rep. Todd Akin when he claimed that a woman cant get pregnant if she was raped. Since the female body can `sense` rape...

Yeah, no biggie! Just another roadside rape is all. I'm sure most American women just factor those into their regular commute time and barely even think about it again.

she has no soul.

Yeah, I listened to Ledisi's and had a coming to Jesus moment (disclaimer: I'm Christian). Then I watched hers and was like...is this about the Lord or is about Beyonce?

Pretty sure it's about Beyonce.

PREACH.

I don't know anything about gospel, but the black ladies I work with do and they could not stand Beyonce's performance. One said it was the worst version of Precious Lord they had ever heard and that she couldn't sing it because "she doesn't have that song in her."

Thank You! Even my dumb atheist ass knows gospel songs need some church, some oomph, some gut punch. Beyonce had none.

Hmm, idk about Bey shafting anyone or the Academy, however, I know Ledisi would have slayed.

there was no plan to perform that song until Beyonce approached them. So folks needs to hop off her nuts. It was just John and Common the Legend(see what I did there😊) that the grammys had scheduled.

the argument is that the lesser known much better singer should've been given that opportunity to kill it.

Most of the responses I'm seeing on this are say this is not her best performance. One of the funniest comments I saw was from Royale E. Cheese on versmartbrothas. said, "Jesus take the wheel and steer her back into pop lane, please." According to a lot of people she doesn't have a voice built for gospel.

I'm listening to this wondering what on earth people are hearing that make them say this is amazing... because it's just not. At all. The melody is lost throughout and she's off-key from the beginning.

Honest question as someone with minimal exposure to gospel music: Why? Like what specifically is she lacking? Is it technical or artistic? Do you have any educational suggestions for artists to look up?

Agreed. I was going to bed and the teevee was still on and when she rumbled out those first notes I had to look up to see WTF was going on. It seemed like she was too low in her range.

Thank you, did any of that crap she dumped on her beehive in her last album even reach #1?
