Isn’t this political suicide? If a candidate came out with some grand plan to conquer Mars they’d immediately be dismissed by their opponents and swing voters as being “out of touch”.
Space is being saved for term 2. Right now we gotta fix our education system and income inequality so that we are creating qualified, healthy, happy people who can then figure out how to get to Mars\space mine asteroids. Fix the fundamentals, then move on to advanced challenges.
