Yeah I like that they actually fleshed that out, in the book it just says she made a pass at him and he was disturbed and boom, now he thinks badly of her haha, solid improvement from the characters versus the historical recounting.

I think an execution was more likely.

I felt for him. The actor did a good job there of showing how he doesn’t just jump on this as soon as she kisses him- there’s some real danger to it and he knows it.

I got the impression the kid was a regular informant of Otto’s, like Varys will later have.

Yeah, I kept thinking, “Dude, run for your life.” If anybody finds out, the Wall is his best outcome.

The Jungle Book wasn’t actually terrible but the rest are a huge race to the bottom

The raging amount of snark (that the writer apparently thinks is clever?) made this recap/review/whatever it is a stunning chore to read through. The writing is so childish you can’t even engage with it.

Since that happened, no buyer has stepped up

I will stress once again, an underage girl...”

The makeup on Crabfeeder was indeed great, which is why I’m so sad he was so damn underused. Woulda loved more out of that antagonist as an actual antagonist, and not a cool-looking force of nature with generic Essosi (I think) mercs.

I pointed it out in another comment, but if we’re talking about historical social norms, back in the 1300s this kinda famous medieval guy named Chaucer was writing about how creepy and foolish age gap marriages were. Books are free at the library, use it.

For real. These reviews are garbage. It’s absolutely pointless to look at the events and characters in this series through the lens of the present. We know it’s gross to marry children. We know it’s gross to be an asshole to women. This series has a lot of both. Can we just acknowledge that all that shit is wrong and

Not to mention the allusion to Viserys and Rhaenyra’s conversation being the same plot beat as last week…

Her rating is also wrong. This is much better than a C+. Also, The Rings of Power doesn’t deserve A-, I’d give it a B.

The ears do look good, although the Elvish haircut is really distracting for some reason.

It’s my contention that Brendan Fraser should get a 6-minute standing ovation essentially any time he enters a room, but maybe that’s just me.

Also part of the underage marriage goes to show how weak and indecisive he is. Its not like he wanted the 15 year old wife. Or any other wife matter of fact. He was pushed into this and every decision by his round table. The hand pushing his daughter to seduce her best friends father for political gain is fucked up

the king seems content in his marriage (to, I will stress once again, an underage girl)

Their sister site Gizmodo’s reviews are pretty decent. I like some of The Ringer’s coverage of the show as well. They have multiple people writing about the show posting articles throughout the week

Assuming that Alicent & Rhaenyra are the same age, by now she’s 17, which is technically legal in most states in America. In ancient Rome it wasn’t uncommon for girls as young 14 or 15 to marry (& to be betrothed even younger), especially amongst the aristocracy (& for the same reasons as the marriages on Got & HotD).
