McKinsey isn’t nearly as smart as McKinsey would like you to believe. Their advice is mostly boilerplate cost-cutting, layoffs, reorganizations, and the like. I’m somewhat ashamed that one of my (former?) friends from grad school works for them.

They have the lead on battery tech right now, they have the lead on battery manufacturing of the said battery tech, they have a competent system for designing and programming cars, and at this point, all the legacy manufacturers are playing catch up to it and failing…
