yep, you’ll be taking the bus.

The alternative is to go electric and not buy gas. EVs are not new anymore.

I have no sympathy for those who chose to buy a larger less fuel efficient vehicles when a smaller more efficient one would have sufficed over the last 10 years. Everyone should plan for fuel prices to go up and for them to fluctuate more than other recurring bills (gas, power, water will all go up, but they don’t

I’ve always made it a point to work within 15 miles of where I live. for me that’s usually just under 45 minutes by bicycle. in the mornings I dont really break a sweat, and I would take the long way home for exercise. I’ve always refused to commute by car, as I would lose my shit sitting in traffic.... in late 2019 I

Americans have the memory of a fruit fly and a grasp on reality of a 4 year old.

From what I have seen if you want to make better time on an EV road trip, sometimes a better strategy is to charger-hop by stopping at a fast charger, charging it up to 50-60% in about 20 minutes or so to keep the vehicle in the fastest part of the charging curve, then driving another 100-120 miles to the next

I did NY-LA back in 2019 in an Audi E-Tron. An EV6 would’ve made the trip quicker and easier.

Reminder for everyone that WSJ opinions pages are Fox News in print. They are propaganda made up to serve Rupert Murdoch’s agenda.

48 gallons... holy shit, that’s like almost five hats’ worth.

Chevy Bolt and Bolt EUV; $25k to $33k.

They made it look positively mundane, spending 2h20m total charging for a 1200 mile trip along a similar route, with stops making for natural breaks after 3-4 hours of driving.
To be fair this is basically the ideal EV road trip but this is all entirely possible with today’s technology.Yes, we need to educate people

Different government subsidies.

Alternatively, the guys from Aging Wheels and Technology connections just did a nearly cross country trip and had no issues. Highlighting articles like this serve no one.

Maybe stick to HVAC then?

Not sure why we would single out what it takes to make the tesla battery. Why don’t we factor in what it takes to make the entire CAR, BOTH of them. There are plenty of electronics in the BMW to that I’m sure come from some strip mine in a third world country, much less the wood, leather, plastic, etc. I’d factor in

Current EVs are far cleaner over their lifespan by every measure. Engineering Explained has a better video explaining it. People ignore all of the oil production, farming for corn for ethanol and all the ancillary stuff for ICE that they try to cram in when comparing an EV. Getting Oil out of the ground, processing it

A local business owner loves his Bolt so much, his dad purchased one too. They charge it at a standard 110 volt outlet at home and at work. Gets them to and from the office every day without any drama.

False premise. The Bolt is more like an electric optioned-up Trax, but with way more power.

Luckily he’s been saying it so long he’s let inflation make his $25k barrier pretty much impossible.

Jalopnik on 6/3/2022: “There are just no new BEVs for under $25k, but I’ll buy one as soon as that happens”
