My 2021 Polestar 2 had lots of niggles the first 6 months and spent some time in the shop. But nothing like what’s being written about the Blazer.

As I recall, Toyota sells every Prime it makes - they don’t sit on the lot.  Maybe that’s changed?  They are not ramping up production.

Maybe because most are adapted to already-developed vehicles, so development costs are spread out over many more vehicles. Think RAV4 and RAV4 Prime. I wonder why Toyota doesn’t flood the market with Primes. Maybe they cost too much to build?

You’re spot on. Cheap (heavily subsidized) gas has so many negative externalities.

It may answer one question, but deadheading creates a lot of extra traffic. That’s why uber/lyft is so detrimental to traffic congestion and is compatible with real city living.

Back when I studied such things, I learned that little neighborhood buses (like the DC circulators) were cute and all, but they cost just as much to operate per hour as a regular 40 foot standard transit bus. Sure the small van is cheaper to buy, but the real cost of the service is the driver.

Because doing so is much more expensive than building EV-only vehicles, and for what? The short term?

At least they sell the Corolla hatchback now.

You can find nice Polestar 2s in the upper $20ks - low 30s all day long.  They’re very good cars.

PHEVs are the worst of both worlds: you still have to find a plug (and more often because of shitty 20-40 mi range) AND you lug around all the complexities / maintenance requirements of ICE. And, for the lazy (that’s most of Americans), they won’t plug them in at all.  What a waste.

Very much the same people who say they want a manual brown wagon - then said manual brown wagon is on the market but they find some other excuse to not buy it.
