You’re not wrong! Those guys tended to be almost...arrogant, really. Like they were “the one true Santa” and all the amateur & volunteer Santas were pale imitations.

Boy, that is a really good question. I don’t know what comics you do like, but I’ll try to give you some ideas:

You may like his work, or you may not. There’s nothing in Comics 101 that says “You must like Jack Kirby if you read comics!” But you do have to understand how incredibly influential he was, even if you don’t care for his work. His presence will likely never be lost as long as the medium exists.
