I actually remember relatively enjoying her performance, too.

Oh, definitely not, and I'd say in terms of high profile comedies it's one of the better few of the past few years. It's just a little too long with one or two too many plot points.

I have a really clear recollection of the abusive father screaming at his son "EAT THESE MASHED POTATOES!" because it was such a poorly done scene.

Do you recommend Inside? I've never really gotten too messed up by gore itself, usually the psychological components that come with it so I've been wondering how the movie could effect me.

The Voices also messed me up a lot. Great performance from Ryan Reynolds, but there's something so off putting about watching it all unfold.

Oh, it's definitely fun, it just never reaches the standard of Michael Shannon's performance.

The Ghost kids scene is SO eyeroll inducing that it ruined the movie for me the first time around. I also can't stand the jump scare ending when the actual ending was already effective and horrifying.

Or not so much a rise, but an emotional reaction.

I also think the fact that the actors clearly have put time and care into these characters paired with the effectiveness of the filmmaking - no matter the controversy, it's going to cause a rise out of a person one way or another.

That's a valid point and I totally agree with that - I was just curious because I've always seen Eli Roth as a joke, so his flippant treatment of things is more eyeroll inducing for me. Not a fan of the guy.

All of the tapes in Sinister tend to put a pit in my stomach.

13 Reasons Why made me feel sick for a couple of days afterwards in a way that I really wasn't expecting it to, it stuck with me.

Just curious, not out of judgement, how do you suppose principal plays into that film? I'm just saying because I viewed it as a generic, grosser-than-usual horror movie.

It becomes a lot less effective when you've just watched these annoying ass characters for the past hour, but it's still gross and given that it's a horrible movie, pointless.

I genuinely couldn't look at it.

Whenever I reach into a high up cupboard I think of the massive spider casually walking through the cabinets in the Eight Legged Freaks trailer.

Also, whenever any of the new zombies throw up in The Santa Clarita Diet. Soooo much vomit.

He's genuinely so good in that movie, whereas the rest of the movie amounts to nothing more than a half hearted shrug.

The thing with great Michael Shannon performances in Joseph Gordon Levitt movies (i.e. The Night Before) is that the rest of the movie can never match up to how terrific he is.

Oh man, the ending of Shut Up and Dance really hit me hard.
