Watching the first three movies, those from 1977-1983, would greatly inform your watching of this new movie. I’m not saying they are required, but lots of this movie might be confusing if you didn’t know the backstory of some of the characters.

I binged Episodes I-VI getting ready for The Force Awakens which I saw yesterday.

There is absolutely nothing in the prequel trilogy germane to watching this new movie. Nothing. They would be a waste of time. They were a waste of time. I should throw them away. I am embarrassed they are in my house.
